Stating that he is sending Francisco Botelho, a gentleman-in-waiting, to the Pope, requesting that the Holy Father should read, in his presence, certain letters, in code, from the Bishop of Vizu, as the King considers they are of spiritual importance. He adds, that he is sending the letters first to the Cardinal and requests him to read them and discuss the matter with the messenger.
